What Is IB?

IB Mission statement

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Jefferson IB

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) was established in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland. The IBO works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. The IB Programme is currently available at 3,900 schools in 147 countries. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners.

The IBO is an internationally recognized, academic program that emphasizes critical thinking in a global context.

The IB Primary Years Programme (IB/PYP) is designed for students age 3 to 12. It focuses on developing the whole child by encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.

Jefferson Elementary educates each student to become a life-long learner.  Through the International Baccalaureate program, we nurture and inspire multilingual, respectful, global citizens to lead and create positive change.

Our students are active participants in their education. They are encouraged to ask questions and take responsibility in their learning process. Our teachers work in a collaborative environment, enhancing the thematic topic of study with art, music, world language, technology, physical education, and real-world scenarios.
