Enrollment for new students is NOW OPEN!

If you have a new student that will be enrolling in a CUSD school, please click on this link to get started with enrollment. ENROLLMENT INSTRUCTIONS


If you are applying for an Intra District Transfer/School of Choice Application, please complete the Enrollment online and then contact your school of residency for further instructions. This must be done prior to March 31, 2018



Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten applications will be accepted on/after April 12th, 2018 in the Jefferson Front Office between the hours of 10am-11:30 am or 1pm-2pm. If you need to make an appointment, please call 760-331-5500. 

JOG-A-THON is coming!

Jefferson Elementary educates each student to become a life-long learner.  Through the International Baccalaureate program, we nurture and inspire multilingual, respectful, global citizens to lead and create positive change.


Our students are active participants in their education. They are encouraged to ask questions and take responsibility in their learning process. Our teachers work in a collaborative environment, enhancing the thematic topic of study with art, music, world language, technology, physical education and real-world scenarios. The Great Kindness Challenge Week of Events



The GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE begins on January 22nd and will continue through January 25 (no school on January 26th). Our KIDS FOR PEACE groups will be collecting KIND COINS for Hurricane Relief. Kindergarten/TK Information Meeting (2018-19)

Calling all parents of students entering Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten in the 2018/19 school year:

We will be hosting an informational meeting on February 22nd at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. This meeting is for parents only. We will review the Enrollment process and a general timeline of events. No paperwork is due at this time.

Please call the attendance hotline 760-331-5570 to report:


Your student is going to be out all day, state all day absence and the reason.

Your student is coming in late, state approximate time of arrival and the reason.

Your student is leaving early, state time of departure and the reason.




*State Education Code 48205 states that a pupil shall be excused from school when the absence is:


(1) Due to his or her illness.

(2) Due to quarantine under the direction of a county or city health officer.

(3) For the purpose of having medical, dental, optometric, or chiropractic services rendered.

(4) For the purpose of attending the funeral services of a member of his or her immediate family, so long as the absence is not more than one day if the service is conducted in California and not more than three days if the service is conducted outside of California.

(5) For the purpose of jury duty in the manner provided for by law.

(6) Due to the illness or medical appointment during school hours of a child of whom the pupil is the custodial parent.

(7) In observance of a holiday or ceremony of his or her religion.


*State Education Code 48260 states that a student is truant when the absence is:


(1)Absent for (3) full days without a valid excuse in (1) school year, or

(2)Tardy or absent for more than 30 minutes without a valid excuse for three (3) or more days in one (1) school year, or

(3)Any combination of the above.


The following are unexcused absences (truant): 

  • personal reasons
  • family emergency
  • vacations
  • sporting events that are not school related

At Jefferson, we believe that volunteers make a difference in the overall student experience. From volunteering in the classroom to the library, the garden to organizing a PTA Sponsored event, volunteers bring their knowledge, strengths, and experience to help make our school special.
