In our I.B. Unit

We are learning about “Who We Are” by studying the different communities we take part in. Ask your child what communities they are a part of and how they help those communities run!

In Reading

We are very excited to have our tutor, Mrs. Amezcua, joining the grade level in the coming weeks. We will be working with her and Ms. Waits to practice our letters, phonics, and comprehension.

In Math

We are practicing counting, writing numbers, and basic addition strategies. Ask your child to tell you an addition story with a number sentence!

Room 504 News Bulletin

Well, we are off to a great start here in first grade! We have been practicing our letters, numbers, and other skills to get back into “school mode”. Students will be starting their specials this week—library, art, and computer lab—what fun!

This week, the students will begin writing in their planners and using their reading logs. See the box called “Homework” below for more information. I’m looking forward to working with you to help your child grow!

Assignments in September:

-“All About Me” poster due Friday, September 16th.

-Reading Log– students read 10 minutes per night, please sign off on it as well as signing the planner.

-Nightly homework assignments will begin the first week of October

General Homework Information:

Planners are to go home every night and return to school each day. This is how we communicate with you about your child’s daily assignments as well as their behavior. Thank you for supporting us with establishing this routine!
