News From 5th Grade

 

 

We have started the Writing Prompt Exams.  Please, do not miss school days.

 

Multicultural Festival is this Saturday, May 19.  Our students in 5th Grade will dance at 12:55 p.m.  Meet in the classrooms 30 minutes before the dance.

 

The year has flown by and now it is time to finish up 5th Grade with our final testing and a little fun.  Here is what is on our calendar for the next month:

 

May 7-18th:            SBAC Testing                   

May 22nd  -            Math Placement Test for Middle School

TBD May -              Pool Day- Mrs.H. (parents needed to drive, please!)

June 4th:                Bellflower Assembly

June 4-8th:             Health Education Week for 5th Grade

June 4-8th:             Olympics  (parents needed!!!!)

June  5th                5th Grade Science Test

June 8th                 Olympic Finals…come cheer us on

June 8th                 Talent Show

June 12th               Beach Day  (We still need volunteers)

June 13th               Promotion

Transdisciplinary theme:

How We Express Ourselves- An inquiry into the local and global issues. The process into identifying a need and the action that can affect the need or issue and how constant reflection and cooperation can help resolve problems.

 

Central Idea:

Humans can help solve worldwide issues locally and globally.

 

 

What lines of inquiry will define the scope of the inquiry into the central idea?

  • There are problems that we can address.

  • I can take action that will affect local or global issues.

  • There are reliable research sources.
