Who We Are

Central Idea:

Organisms are made up of many systems that continually interact to support survival, growth and function.

What lines of inquiry will define the scope of the inquiry into the central idea?

How plants and animals get oxygen and food

How plants and animals get rid of waste

How plants and animals transport material

Transdisciplinary Theme:

Social & Thinking:  Students will also observe, record, and analyze some of their choices that affect their physical health. They will be able to reflect on choices.

Key Concepts

Function: Students used graphic organizers to create writings explaining the systems of humans and plants. They were also accompanied by diagrams that were labeled.

Connection:  Students evaluated connections between cells, tissue, organs and organ systems. They also studied larger concepts such as the carbon cycle.

Responsibility: Students demonstrated through discussions and writings the responsibilities of relationships of human systems, plant systems, and global systems.
